This is just another edition of when celebrities just say the dumbest things. Ms. Aniston graces the cover of Vogue's December 2008 issue. She speaks her mind on Brad and Angelina, and she takes some pretty fabulous shots too. After doing the interview and seeing the cover, Jen felt like Vogue took some of her comments about Angelina out of context. “I was just surprised that Vogue would go so tabloid,” she told Entertainment Weekly.
But all hell broke loose when she decided she woud change the subject to Sex and The City. Here's the comment that sparked it all:
“I never liked Sex And The City, the kind of thing where women only feel empowered once they find the man. It’s just not up my alley. I don’t believe in it.”
Now, this comment really raised some eyebrows. I was an avid Sex and The City watcher, and I never thought that finding a man was the "central theme" of the show. I thought the show was more about the strong friendships that existed between all the women. Yeah there was a lot of promiscuous activities (Samantha) and desperate moments (Charlotte), but the men were never really the focus of the show. Hell in the movie, you rarely even saw any of the male cast for longer than a few minutes. Yes they dealt with relationships and wanted love, but what woman doesn't? Jen just sounds bitter to me.
And I hope you didn't expect SJP to just brush that ridiculous statement off her shoulders and stay silent, her response to a close friend:
“Jen’s dig was tacky.”
Just like in fashion, sometimes less is more. Very classy Sarah Jessica Parker.
