Celebrity Fashion|Hottest Looks of The Week

Friday, January 30, 2009

It has been a rather busy week in Hollywood post the Inauguration, and the celebs are back to the usual. So while there is controversy sparking with celebs like Kelly Rowland, 50-Cent, Jessica Simpson, and that damn Danity Kane, it would only be proper to highlight this week's best in celebrity fashion.

Let's get started, shall we?

First up, Sarah Jessica Parker:

So Page 6 might have crowned "The City's" Whitney Port as the new Carrie Bradshaw (I'm sorry I do NOT agree! You're no fashionista just because you prance around New York with MTV cameras everyday. Damn these reality shows!), there is only one SJP.

She attended the "The American Plan" broadway premiere this week with hubby Matthew Broderick. I take it the happy couple is trying to squash those nasty divorce rumors. She looks fabulous in her polka dots and black Christian Louboutins. Oh yes, Sarah Jessica Parker can wear polka dots and still look fabulous. Fashion rules are for the fashionly dimwitted. Admit it.

Keisha Whitaker:

Keisha Whitaker and husband Forrest Whitaker attended a special screening of "Kassim The Dream", which was hosted by Forrest Whitaker.

Many will argue she's too skinny and all the rest of that ridiculous criticism, but I think she is a lovely woman and usually pretty damn fashionable.

She looks gorgeous in this white top with a stylish neckline. And she threw on some nude pumps and toted a matching nude clutch. Simple but chic. Lovely.

Dita Von Teese:

Dita Von Teese attended the Elie Swab fashion show for Paris Fashion Week wearing this piece from the Spring 2009 Elie Swab collection. How can any stylish woman not appreciate this jacket with large rosette details on both collar and cuffs, and Teese's simple, but brillant addition of a pencil skirt.

She completed the look with black Christian Louboutins and a large bag which also has rosette details. It takes a lot of courage to pull this off, but the old Hollywood look looks great on her.

Dakota Fanning:

Dakota Fanning looked absolutely stunning in this silver origami style mini dress during the premiere of "Push." Great look and color of dress on her. She is really growing up fabulously, isn't she? I'm glad she hasn't take any pages out of Miley Cyrus' fashion book. Aww, don't get upset with me. You KNOW where I am going with this, and you KNOW I am telling the truth.

And finally, this should come as no surprise...

Rihanna:

No one and I mean no one can pull off the bad girl/rocker chick look like Rihanna. She performed at the Pepsi Smash this week, and wore her signature all black "good girl gone bad" look. Rihanna has of way of making wearing all black (which is usually gothic and depressing and the preference for the unfashionable), look chic and ever so sexy. The jacket closed the deal for me. It's way too easy for her.

Well these are my fierce picks of the week. I chose most of my picks because of their independent stylishness. I admire anyone who can pick garments that compliment their own individual style, never mind those rules the fashion elite set and don't follow their damn selves. And I also chose stars who are comfortable in their own skin and willing to use the past for current style inspiration.

Until next week...

Dakota Fanning really is becoming quite the little fashionista. That is a really beautiful dress.

I wonder who Rihanna's stylist is. We all know she isn't dressing herself.

Dakota's dress is really cute. I wonder who the designer is. Maybe it's BCBG, she seems to really favor that line.

I think Sarah Jessica Parker can practically wear whatever she wants and get away with it at this point. I'm not even mad at the polka dots.
