Director of Aaliyah Movie Says Film Will Be Seamless Like 'Selena'

Tuesday, January 27, 2009

The highly anticipated Aaliyah biopic is moving forward pretty quickly these days. After the successful release of "Notorious", the stakes are even higher than before, and loyal fans are anxious for a film that does the fallen singer due justice.

Months ago, the identity of the young woman who landed the role as Aaliyah in the film was revealed.

It was confirmed that Canadian R&B singer Keisha Chantae would play the role of the deceased singer.

Now directors are coming out and speaking on the current production status on the film.

Director Bill Condon is trying to keep the film as accurate as possible, and hopes to portray the singer's life with much authenticity. He states:

"We are going to great extremities to make this movie perfect. We have (Keisha) Chante in extensive training studying, speaking with family members, watching personal footage and in choreography training with Aaliyah's choreographer and dear friend Fatima Robinson. This movie will will be seamless the same way it was for Selena fans who enjoyed Jennifer Lopez."

Bill Condon also directed "Dreamgirls," and is hoping the film will be an extraordinary and true account of such an amazing woman's life.

I do hope this film will be well received. Aaliyah deserves it.

In other Aaliyah news, a news press release is circulating the blogosphere claiming that Jay-Z and Dame Dash's feud did indeed begin over Aaliyah.

Producer/director Choke No Joke is suggesting that both Jay-Z and Dame Dash had a very close friendship with the singer, and Jay-Z became furious when Dash began publicly dating Aaliyah.

Choke No Joke recently told Hip Hop Weekly:

"Both Jay and Dame was involved with a certain R&B singer, who I'm not gonna say her name out of respect 'cause she ain't around to defend herself, but I believe that was a part of the initial friction.

I was seeing Jay with her back around 2000, then Dame was with her after. All you have to do is look at the movie they did, Death of a Dynasty. In t
he movie they were fighting over a model. In real life she was a model, but singing is what she was known for first."

I think most of us have known all of this for years now. But don't expect a confirmation from neither Jay-Z or Dame Dash.

You can't compare Beyonce and Aaliyah. 2 different kind of singers.
