Michelle Obama Chooses Jason Wu For Inaugural Ball Gown

Wednesday, January 21, 2009

After such a historic swearing in of our country's 44th president, it was time for my favorite First Family to dance a little.

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama probably attended about 10 different Inauguration balls last night, but I think the media was more interested in what Michelle Obama chose for her Inauguration ball gown for the evening than anything else.

Michelle Obama chose Brooklyn based fashion designer Jason Wu's flirty white ball gown for her evening of dancing with the very handsome 44th.

This beautiful white one shouldered dress designed by Jason Wu again demonstrates Michelle Obama's fabulous habit of rejecting to select safe fashion choices like other First Ladies and her ability to pick bold pieces that make her statement of self-confidence very clear. This First Lady isn't afraid to wear garments that demonstrate her unique fashion sense and her youth. Jason Wu understood this perfectly. This choice for an Inauguration ball gown was very bold and very Michelle Obama.

The Inauguration ball gown had a fitted bodice and beautiful flare skirt, and an elegant train that seemed to at times get in the way of the First Couple's dancing. My only complaint for Michelle Obama's Inauguration ball gown choice designed by Jason Wu would have to be it's lack of practicality and lack of convenience for a night of dancing.

What one has to understand about the First Lady is she is not going to ever play it safe with her fashion choices. She won't continuously select pieces from notable and high-end designers like Oscar de la Renta, and she won't feel the need to wear colors that the unfashionably insecure would feel safe to wear.

While others may disagree with my very distinct satisfaction with Michelle Obama's choice in her Inauguration ball gown, I stand firm in my fashion independence and admiration of such a fashionably bold woman. Jason Wu designed a gown that reminded me of a fairy tale, and it was the perfect addition to a night and day that better belongs in a story book. This is why her choice in her Inauguration ball gown is flattering and worth much credit. She is daring in her fashion choices, hence exciting to watch.

Regardless of how you feel about her Jason Wu designed Inauguration ball gown, you must admit that this is one handsome couple. The next four years will be addictive.

I really loved this dress. I know some people are hating on her choice, but I think Jason Wu did a great job designing this dress. She has her own style and I love it.

who cares what anybody thinks about this dress? Barack loved it and thought she looked beautiful. And that's all that matters.
