Update: Will Beyonce Get Her Wish? Who Is Performing At The Inauguration?

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

Beyonce has been trying for months to be selected to perform for the Inauguration, and she hasn't been silent about it either. She also campaigned for Barack Obama, and made it clear in numerous interviews that she wanted to perform at the historical event.

Although Obama originally wanted Jennifer Hudson for the part, Hudson wasn't up for the performance due to her grievance for the tragic murders of her family members. She turned down the offer earlier last month.

The industry has been speculating that Beyonce would get the offer, and this only caused backlash from Obama supporters and a petition was created to keep Beyonce from performing.

The performer has finally been chosen...

And Obama has chosen Aretha Franklin.

But Beyonce fans don't have to fret, she will be performing at the HBO hosted Inauguration concert along with Usher, John Legend, Mary J. Blige and several other artists.

Jamie Foxx, Martin Luther King III, Queen Latifah, and Denzel Washington will read historical passages and Barack and Michelle Obama are expected to make an appearance at the "Neighborhood Inaugural Ball" hosted by ABC.

No offense to Beyonce, but this was a very smart choice. We all know the republicans would have had a field day if Beyonce was chosen to perform at the Inauguration. And you know I'm right.

I'm glad that skank didn't get the spot. She's too trashy to perform at the Inauguration!

Yeah the righties would have been trash talking for real.Beyonce isn't necessarily considered classy by most people. But didn't Beyonce perform for President Bush though?
