I hope you all enjoyed your holiday weekend, I know my weekend was absolutely fabulous! I caught a few great sales, went to a few barbecues, partied a little, spent time with the family, and even got in a movie. And I saw some great fashion. Fall is officially here. Fashion week just started last week, and the catwalk fashion has already hit all the major department stores.
With the beginning of a new season, I always take the time to think about all the great trends that I am going to miss from the previous season. Summer was very good to my closet. Who isn't going to miss wearing their favorite pair of strappy sandals or better yet that fabulous maxi dress that we all had have a few of? And weren't you just loving some of the hottest colors of the season? I saw more yellow than I did in the Spring, and I realized how gorgeous of a hue it really is. The mustard shade was by far my favorite color of the Summer. The Pantone Report calls this particular shade super lemon.
It is such a bold color that really makes a statement.
And we weren't just making a statement with bold colors in the Summer, we were also making a statement with our jewelry.
On the red carpet, those infamous glossy pages of Vogue, and on the most trendiest streets, we kept our necklaces thicker, chunkier, and bolder. Everyone has at least one statement necklace, and I doubt they will disappear in the fall. I wouldn't be surprised if this jewelry trend lasted for the next couple of seasons. It is one of my favorite looks as of late.
But do you know what I am really going to miss and really dread throwing in the back of the closet until next Summer?
A nice pair of Gladiator sandals. And these happen to be a pair of some my favorite and these were designed by the talented Michael Kors. Fabulous.
I am really going to miss Summer, but we all know that Fall happens to be the trendiest of them all.
Here is the rundown on my fashion sightings of the weekend...
Best Deal:
*B Makowsky satchel $233.00 reg at Dillards*
Dillard's had a Handbag Trade In Event that ended today. Shoppers had the opportunity to bring in their old handbags and get a nice fat discount for a new one. And don't think for a minute that the designer and more expensive bags were off limits, every single handbag was up for a discount. Here's how the pricing worked:
$15 off a $50 - $75 new handbag
$25 off a $76 - $125 new handbag
$40 off a $126 - $199 new handbag
$50 off a $200 or more new handbag
And there were plenty of women who took advantage of the week long event. And did I mention that there were plenty of new Coach bags available at this event? Madness.
Best Designer Discovery:
J Renee. These aren't the pair that stopped me dead in my tracks (my camera is acting rather stupid right now), but I absolutely love her style. It's funky meets sophistication. And I absolutely adore her work. Expect a post in weeks to come.
Worst Fashion Sighting:
I swear on Vogue that I saw a young woman in a cowboy hat, short shorts, and ankle boots at a cook out on Saturday. She looked more country than a can of Country Time. Now you can be fashionable in a cowboy hat...
But ankle boots, short shorts and cowboy hats just scream country. If she wanted attention...she surely got it with that dreadful outfit.
Best Fashion Sighting:
Now if this doesn't inspire you, maybe you aren't ready for Fall.
Goodbye Summer...let the Fall fashion begin.
